Project Title: Learning the St. Lucie
The challenges that I will test:
1) Designing a learning module which allows the participant to understand the ecological/ scientific make-up of the St. Lucie River and what variables impact its health.
2) Designing a learning module which articulates the political actions over the years which have impacted the health of the St. Lucie River in a balanced, unbiased way.
3) Designing a learning module which explains the volume of water that flows into the St. Lucie River and educates the participant on how that water is currently managed.
October 2013 – February 2014: Gather research. Start assembling the literature review and conducting interviews. Attend meetings where participants are discussing the issue.
November 2013- May 2014: Start telling others about the Learning the St. Lucie Project. Identify those who may be able to contribute time or expertise to getting the project off the ground quicker than if I go it on my own.
December 2013 – March 2014: Begin assembling the first module. Locate an online place to locate the educational experience.
March – May 2014: Identify potential user groups to use the completed modules. Market the product.
Getting a first draft of my first learning module will be key. This will help me explain the project to others, and allow me to get valuable feedback before allowing the project to get too big and un-finishable.
Not duplicating efforts of local environmental groups.
Being sure to add to the wealth of information on the internet about this topic, and not allow it to be more noise.
Getting the word out so the project can grow and involve true experts in this field.
